It's a boat wedding celebration.

This past Saturday, we had the opportunity of attending D + K's wedding celebration in MN! If you have seen my past posts, you would know D + K married on August 2, 2014. K's parents wanted to host a small, wedding celebration for the people who couldn't attend their wedding in Mexico.

It was a grand day! The weather was crazy. It went from sunny, to cloudy, to sunny, to cloudy, to raining, to sunny in a course of just 3 hours.

The best part of it all (for me, at least): My parents were able to visit Minnesota! We missed my brothers, though, who couldn't come because of school/work.

The newlyweds.

Sigh.
[Please excuse me while I have a crush on my husband. ;-)]

The "guestbook". Our families did this for our wedding and D + K's wedding. It's a great idea, don't you think?

Our parents.

A view of the city.

Daddy's girls.

I braided/pin curled my sister's hair in like...ten minutes.
Thank goodness her hair kept put for the evening. ;-)

My mother-in-law. :-D

I was kind of obsessed with these boat lights.
Also, everyone was watching the gates open at the lock and dam.

After the rain and the cloudy skies, God blessed us with a stunning view.
The sun shone upon the trees, who were just beginning to blush.
And to top it off, a rainbow appeared.

We totally did the "Titanic pose".
We had to. We are cool like that. ;-)
The photographer has a picture like this one, but he shot it from the top deck.

We then went inside for a dance. It was time to leave my camera for a bit. However, as the evening was coming to an end, we were blessed with another view of the city, and I ran inside to get the camera.

I hope you enjoyed looking at some of the pictures from the celebration!

"And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ - to the glory and praise of God." Philippians 1: 9-11

"The highest meaning and the most ultimate purpose of marriage is to put the covenant relationship of Christ and his church on display." J. Piper, This Momentary Marriage: A Parable of Permanence (Note: Greg and I read this when we were engaged - you should read it sometime, even if you are not in a relationship. It's online and it's free!)

God is so, so good.

And it was completely calm.

Mazatlan, Mexico
Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. Then the disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We are going to drown!"

He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!"

Matthew 8:23-27

Jesus calming the storm is one of my absolute favorite Bible stories. I learned this story by heart when I was a young girl.

However, it wasn't until my NCLEX exam - a test to become a Registered Nurse - day, that I really came to love it. The morning of my test, I woke up before my sister did (I mean, hello, I couldn't sleep all night) to have a little talk with Him. I opened a Bible app on my phone and verse 26 was the "verse of the day". I quickly opened a real Bible and read the story over and over and over.

I was so surprised. I just knew the "verse of the day" was meant for me that morning. It was as if Jesus was asking me, "You of little faith, why are you, my daughter, so afraid?". He was totally in control and I needed to trust and obey Him.

I went into my exam feeling a peace I can't describe - I was completely calm. Regardless of me passing or failing, I was already living His will for me.

I hope these verses are of encouragement to you today!

Note: Mazatlan's waves are the biggest I've seen in my life! However, that particular sunset, the ocean seemed calmer. ;-)

Note #2: Life has been quite...I don't know if "hectic" would be the correct term to describe life lately. Life has been FULL - in every sense of the word! Once we are settled, I'll update the blog more often.

Gabby

12 months of dates gift : Date #1 (September)

Remember this?

Well, as of today, my sister and her husband opened the first wedding gift of twelve, as today marked their first month of marriage! She sent me a text around eleven-something PM and told me they would get to open it in a few minutes. So exciting (for us girls, at least)! ;-)

Ok, on to the gift.

Greg and I wanted to do something simple and relaxing for the first month, as they would be super busy getting settled (and they are!). A little break from the "routine" would be perfect.

Every gift comes in a manila folder, decorated according to the month/season!

This is what it contained!
Every gift also contains a set of "instructions". ;-)

Well, it looks like "movie date this month!". If they choose to go, of course. It could be any day of this month, but it could also be any day during their first year of marriage!

I hope you enjoyed it! My plan is to make a post like this one for each month (hopefully). Also, many thanks to my sister and her husband who allowed me to blog about it. Perhaps with a little pressure from someone asking them to pleaseeeeeeeeee take a picture. ;-)

Have an awesome day!

Love,
Gabby

Note: Also, please PRAY for Christians all over the world - especially for those who are persecuted and suffer death daily because of allegiance to Jesus Christ. Pray wholeheartedly for those who hate, shame and kill the lives of those Christians - that many (or one, or two) may see the light, His light! If you have seen/read the news, you know that this is happening around the world - especially this year. Lord, come quickly!
